Hi Reader,
Let me lead with a big THANK YOU. Whether you are new to me and my work, or have been following my art for a while, I'm honored that you are here for a peek "behind the canvas".
For those who are new - welcome! Here's a quick summary about who I am. (If you're not new here, feel free to skip ahead).
A Little About Me
As you probably figured out by by now, I am a painter and visual artist. My primary medium is acrylic paints, but I got my start with a regular ol' pencil and paper. I started drawing at a young age and I've wanted to "be an artist" ever since.
After getting a degree in construction engineering (that's another story), I eventually moved to San Antonio, Texas, where my professional art career began.
I dabbled a little in paints before, but I'll say that I officially "started painting" in 2017, and have been developing my craft (and understanding the purpose behind it) ever since. I'll spare you the details, but here are some highlights:
Key Moments in my Professional Art Career
When my painting career started |
Gave myself my first dedicated studio space Sold my first original painting |
Launched Lucidfrenchi (I'll have to talk about this later) |
Hosted a table at my first community events Experimented with digital art |
Experienced a creativity "drought" |
Participated in my first group exhibition in San Antonio Presented an original painting to Paul Rusesabagina Launched Artwork by Porschia Danielle LLC Leased my first studio space at an artist's collective (the Hausmann Millworks) |
Participated in three more group exhibitions and my first group Artist Talk *Gave God a real "yes" in surrender of my artistic gifts (see excerpt below) Sold over $1,000 of art in one year (something beyond what I thought possible) |
Had my first solo exhibition and solo Artist Talk Already exceeded last year's art sales Launched Behind the Canvas with Porschia Danielle (this e-letter!) |
*This moment of surrender was my breakthrough moment and profound epiphany. Realizing that the purpose of the artistic talents I've been given is to give it right back to God and use it for His glory has changed everything... |
TL;DR. I've been making art for a while. I hit a rut a few years ago, but when I finally realized the purpose of my passion, it changed everything. |
What is Behind the Canvas?
Consider these notes to be a personal letter from your artistic pen pal or a close friend. I'll share messages rooted in authenticity and truth, and will always aim to point us back to the Source of truth Himself.
Why You Should Stay (and Read Along)
In this digital age of shallow connections, my intent is to cultivate something more meaningful and, well, personal. These letters can turn into a conversation - a dialogue.
When I share my art with you, I'm sharing pieces of my heart, my inner thoughts, my story. When it connects, you can hit "reply" every once in a while to share what's resonating and/or ministering to you.
"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."
Proverbs 27:17 (NIV)
What You Can Expect
I'll send you bi-weekly(ish) e-letters like this one. Some will be shorter; some might be longer. All will honor your time and attention.
Since I make art, you can expect to learn about what I'm working on and what offers I have available for you.
Since my art is focused on ministering to the body of Christ and sharing the truth of God's love, you can almost always expect a scripture or two and a moment of encouragement.
What's Next
I'm currently working on an exciting new body of work that expresses love, intimacy, and beauty of a relationship with Christ. I don't have a set timeline on it, so I plan to see where it takes me, relationally and artistically. I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops, and sharing some behind the canvas moments with you.
I'll share more in the coming weeks and days. Until then, you can check out some of my work and offers on my website.
Just know, I'm really glad you're here. 💛
