Hey Reader. When I create art like Into the Light and El Rai... There's two core things I aim to do. There guide everything in my art brand.
All my effort, time, and skills go into these simple, yet profound goals. These aren't just taglines, "Christian-ese", or something holy-sounding to say. It's how I make decisions, serve others through art, and am building a brand that lasts. Why does this matter? 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says,
"Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing."
And Colossians 2:23 (NLT) instructs us,
"Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people."
(My emphasis added to both.) Edification doesn't always come from a sermon or an encouraging word, though it often can. Sometimes, however, it comes from a simple smile, a kind gesture, and yes, even a beautiful piece of art that quietly reminds us that Christ is thinking of us. (For example, see below for some coffee cup art that encouraged my recently.) It matters to me that my art is more than just a nice piece of decor to look at. My hope is that it encourages you and brings Christ glory. I would love for you to hit reply and tell me what matters most to you when picking art for your space. With love, grace, and gratitude, P.S. If you believe that the message behind the art is just as important as its aesthetic, click here to browse some pieces to help you focus on Christ. P.P.S I dropped my paintings off to my photographer a couple weeks ago to get some high-quality images. Once I get those back (which will hopefully be soon!), new items will be coming to my shop. Created to create art that honors and exalts the presence and love of God. Come, let's spread God's truth and love, and point all eyes toward Christ, together.
Hi Reader! This week, I’ve been reviewing some sketches related to my next body of work and meditating on how lush God's love is towards us. Anyway…I assume you're busy checking email right now so I’ll get straight to the point. Most people I interact with in my email community occasionally need a reminder to just pause and worship. So I figured I'd share this link to one of my favorite songs to play on repeat when I need a reminder of God's goodness. It's only about 11-minutes long and you...
Hi Reader! Welcome back to Behind the Canvas with Porschia Danielle. I want to begin today's letter to you by sharing a recent personal moment that I think you can relate to. Don't Worry About Anything... Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT) says, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then, you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in...
Hi Reader, Let me lead with a big THANK YOU. Whether you are new to me and my work, or have been following my art for a while, I'm honored that you are here for a peek "behind the canvas". For those who are new - welcome! Here's a quick summary about who I am. (If you're not new here, feel free to skip ahead). A Little About Me As you probably figured out by by now, I am a painter and visual artist. My primary medium is acrylic paints, but I got my start with a regular ol' pencil and paper. I...
